How Configurable Time Rounding Calculator Works?
The Configurable Time Rounding Calculator works by rounding a punch minute to the nearest interval you choose: 15, 6 or 5 minutes. 23 minutes rounds to 30 under 15-minute rounding.
1Enter the punch minutes
Type the minute value of a clock punch or duration, 23 by default.
2Choose the interval
Enter 15 for quarter-hour, 6 for tenth-hour, or 5 for 5-minute rounding.
3Read the rounded minute
The tool returns 30 minutes for 23 at a 15-minute interval.
4Read the decimal value
30 minutes = 0.50 hours.

What is Configurable Time Rounding Calculator?
A Configurable Time Rounding Calculator is a tool that applies the 3 rounding intervals allowed under 29 CFR § 785.48(b): nearest 5 minutes, nearest 6 minutes (one tenth of an hour), or nearest 15 minutes (one quarter hour).
Federal rules allow rounding only when the policy is neutral and averages out so employees are paid for all time actually worked. A policy that always rounds in the employer’s favor violates the FLSA.
California courts have questioned rounding when exact punch data exists. Some California employers pay to the exact minute to avoid that risk.
