Holiday Pay = Holiday Multiplier × Regular Rate × Hours Worked
Federal law does not mandate holiday pay, but company policies and union contracts often pay 1.5× or 2.0×.
How Holiday Premium Pay Calculator Works?
The Holiday Premium Pay Calculator works by multiplying holiday hours by your base rate and the holiday multiplier set by your employer or contract.
1Enter the base rate
Type the hourly rate before any holiday premium, $28.00 by default.
2Enter holiday hours
Add hours worked on the holiday, 8 by default.
3Enter the holiday multiplier
Type the policy rate: 1.5 for time and a half, 2.0 for double time, 2.5 for double time and a half.
4Read holiday pay
8 hours × $28.00 × 2.0 returns $448.00, a $224.00 premium above straight pay.

What is Holiday Premium Pay Calculator?
A Holiday Premium Pay Calculator is a tool that prices hours worked on a holiday at the premium rate set by an employer policy or contract.
Holiday premiums are voluntary in the US. The FLSA does not require extra pay for work on holidays. Federal contractors, union members and many large employers still pay 1.5× to 2.5× on recognized holidays such as New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
A holiday premium of at least 1.5× can be credited toward FLSA overtime owed in the same workweek under 29 CFR § 778.203, which prevents paying overtime on top of a holiday premium.
