What is Weekend Premium Pay Calculator?
A Weekend Premium Pay Calculator is a tool that prices Saturday and Sunday hours at an employer’s weekend rate.
Federal law does not require weekend premiums. Weekend work pays straight time under the FLSA unless the hours push the week past 40. Weekend premiums come from employer policy or contracts and are common in hospitals, call centers and manufacturing.
A weekend premium that is not a true overtime premium, such as a flat $2.00 per hour, belongs in the regular rate. A weekend premium of 1.5× or more paid for hours outside the normal schedule can be credited toward overtime.
